When you asked the question if you have ever been in that situation before, when staying feels easier than going, I am sure this spoke to everyone who read your piece. It spoke to me because sometimes making a simple decision like this demonstrates the importance of just doing it. The results created a memory and changed the entire evening. Great article.
Thank you Patrick 🙏 You’re right. The question “should I go” can definitely be reframed to other life decisions such as “should I post this piece?”, “should I reach out to an old friend?” Etc.
I think I often now ask myself - Would I regret it if I didn't go/do x/etc and if it's a yes, I try to do it even if it feels a lot in the moment. That's awesome that you all had a great time once you got there. Baseball games are always a good time!
Thank you for sharing ! It was definitely a blast and that reframe definitely helps push us do some things out of our element. Doing so helps create that lasting memory we will remember for years.
Great message and as someone who always appreciates a night at home, it's hard to get out when the alternative is rest.
We are in a busy season, so our calendar is mostly full anyways (and people STILL think texting us day of will work), but we try to show up as much as we can.
The nights at home are needed, absolutely. But the memories and experiences are what will last a lifetime (and I can attest to getting a game ball like your son, I've got two in my baseball days and they are truly special moments that you always remember)!
That’s amazing that you remember that and have those game balls! I definitely clearly recall the times I went to sporting events and got players’ autographs ha ha!
One came from Mike Maddux when we were sitting behind our bullpen, which was legendary.
The other was from Jurickson Profar (we were the visiting team in Seattle when my fam lived there) and he saw me 25 rows up and tossed a beauty to me that I caught barehanded and was pretty proud of😂
